The Hidden Toxin: How Heavy Metals Affect Gut, Candida, and Thyroid Health

As I continued my healing journey, I decided to go deeper and test for heavy metals in my body — something I had never considered before.

The results were eye-opening:
My levels of heavy metals were high, especially mercury.

I started searching for answers, and I quickly realized that the mercury was likely coming from a hidden source:
• Mercury fillings (amalgam dental fillings) that had been in my mouth for years.
• I had no idea at the time that these fillings were silently releasing toxic metals into my body every day.

Mercury is extremely harmful — not only to the gut and immune system but especially to the thyroid gland.

The black or silver-colored dental fillings are called amalgam fillings, and they’re made from a mixture of metals, including:

Main Metals in Amalgam Fillings (by percentage):
1. Mercury – 50% or more
• Mercury is the primary binding agent that holds the other metals together.
• It is also the most toxic component and the one most linked to health concerns.
2. Silver – ~22–32%
• Gives the filling its silver-like appearance and strength.
3. Tin – ~14%
• Helps make the filling more pliable during placement and increases durability.
4. Copper – ~8%
• Increases strength and reduces corrosion.
5. Zinc – Trace amounts (in some formulas)
• May act as an antioxidant, but not always present.

Why Mercury Is a Concern
• Releases vapor: Even after placement, amalgam fillings continuously release small amounts of mercury vapor, especially when chewing, brushing, or grinding teeth.
• Absorbed through lungs: These vapors are inhaled and absorbed through the lungs, then circulate through the bloodstream and may accumulate in tissues — including the brain, kidneys, and thyroid.
• Toxic burden: In sensitive individuals or those with multiple fillings, this can contribute to chronic fatigue, immune issues, thyroid dysfunction, brain fog, and gut imbalances (including Candida overgrowth).

Important Tip

If you plan to remove amalgam fillings, always use a biological or holistic dentist who follows safe mercury removal protocols (e.g., rubber dam, oxygen mask, high-speed suction) to avoid further exposure.

Why Heavy Metals Are Dangerous for the Thyroid
• Direct Thyroid Damage: Mercury and other heavy metals can accumulate in the thyroid, damaging the delicate tissue and disrupting hormone production.
• Immune System Confusion: Heavy metals stimulate autoimmune reactions, increasing the risk of conditions like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
• Hormone Interference: Mercury can block receptors for thyroid hormones, making it harder for your cells to “hear” the hormonal signals, even if your blood levels are normal.
• Gut Flora Disruption: Mercury and metals kill beneficial gut bacteria, making Candida overgrowth more likely, and weakening gut-thyroid connection.

In simple words:
Heavy metals silently poison the thyroid, the gut, and the immune system.

My Detoxification Journey

Once I understood the source, I made an important decision:
I safely removed the mercury fillings with a biological dentist who specializes in non-toxic removal.

But removal was just the first step.
I knew my body needed help to cleanse the metals that had already accumulated.

My healer recommended a gentle but effective detox approach:
• Adding fresh coriander (cilantro) into my daily diet — in salads, smoothies, and soups.
• Taking 7–8 drops daily of coriander extract (colliander drops) — a concentrated herbal remedy known for its powerful ability to bind to heavy metals and assist their removal.

Why Coriander (Cilantro) is a Natural Detoxifier
• Binds Heavy Metals: Coriander naturally attaches to mercury, lead, aluminum, and other toxic metals, helping pull them out of tissues.
• Supports Liver Detoxification: It boosts liver enzymes that help flush toxins safely.
• Anti-Inflammatory: Coriander reduces the inflammatory burden caused by heavy metals.
• Protects the Thyroid: By lowering the heavy metal load, coriander creates a safer, cleaner environment for the thyroid to heal and function properly.

My Healing Experience

As the weeks passed — sticking to my dairy-free, sugar-free, and gluten-free lifestyle, continuing the Candida protocol, and now adding coriander detoxification —
I could feel real shifts:
• Lighter energy
• Clearer thinking (less brain fog)
• Better digestion
• Reduced joint aches
• Stronger, calmer thyroid function

It wasn’t overnight. Healing came through daily rituals, deep patience, and a lot of self-compassion.
But it came — and it changed my life.

In Simple Words:

“When you remove the poisons, the body remembers how to heal.”

Healing the gut, clearing Candida, lowering inflammation, supporting the thyroid, and cleansing heavy metals — they are all connected in one beautiful journey of self-restoration.
